Dear Community,

Over the past two years, we have worked hard to establish the Israeli community in Madrid, organizing activities and meetings, and creating a strong platform for creating closeness and friendship between community members. In the past year, which has been particularly challenging for all of us, we have realized how important community activity is for a sense of family and belonging, especially when we are far from home.

Over the past year, we have established the ICM (Israeli Community in Madrid) association - a non-profit association that officially recognizes the existence of the Israeli community in Madrid. Since the association's establishment, all those involved have been working on a full volunteer basis.

In terms of financial management, the association receives only partial funding from varying sources, which assist with donations to Israeli communities in other cities outside of Israel. In addition, since this contribution is not fixed and may change, the association's leaders contribute from their own pockets to ensure the ongoing activities. After two years of operation, we have come to the conclusion that we will not be able to continue operating the association in its current format. Furthermore, in order to enrich and increase our community's activities, we will have to find stable sources of funding.

Therefore, starting in November 2024, membership in the ICM community will involve membership fees that will be used for the ongoing management of the association and expenses for services such as an accountant, clearing, websites, etc. The membership fees will be a nominal cost for an individual or family, as detailed in the link below. It is important to note that financial hardship should not be a barrier or obstacle to belonging to the community or participating in community activities! Therefore, if a problem arises, you are welcome to contact us privately.

As has been the case to date, participation in events and parties will involve the payment of a nominal participation fee ranging from €5-€25 per person/family, and will be used to cover the expenses of the activity itself only (refreshments, venue rental, etc.). However, community membership fees will buy a reduced price for participating in these activities and additional benefits that will be given to community members only.

It is important to understand that the main activity of the community exists thanks to the willingness of its members to volunteer, to donate their time, skills and talents. We hope that additional community members will participate, take part in its activities, volunteer and initiate activities for the benefit of the community and the well-being of its members.
