The type of visa required to live in Madrid depends on your nationality, the purpose of your stay, and the intended length of your stay. Below are the common types of residence visas for Madrid:


NIE Verde – For European Citizens

This visa is intended for those with European citizenship. It is a relatively simple process that can also be completed after arrival in Spain. Once you arrive, you have 3 months to regularize your status.

To obtain the NIE, you need translated documents with an apostille from Israel, comprehensive health insurance, a bank account, and a residential address in Spain.

Residence permit for family members of a European passport holder:If you are joining a family member who is already a resident of Madrid, you can apply for a family reunification residence permit.


Student Visa

A visa granted for studies at a recognized institution in Spain. This visa allows you to stay in Spain for up to two years or until your studies are completed.

During your studies, you may obtain a work permit for up to 30 hours per week.


Non-Lucrative Visa

A residence visa without permission to work. In this case, you must prove sufficient financial means without earning income in Spain.You must demonstrate financial assets of at least €28,800 per family member.

This visa is valid for one year with an option for renewal.


Golden Visa

A visa for individuals making a significant financial investment of over €500,000 in Spain.

You are allowed to hold several properties to reach the total investment amount.


Digital Nomad Visa

A new type of visa

This visa allows for 3 years of stay while working remotely.

Conditions for obtaining a Digital Nomad Visa:

  • At least 80% of your income must come from outside of Spain.

  • You must show at least 3 months of work experience with your employer.

  • You need a letter from your company confirming remote work permission.

  • The employing company must have been operational for at least one year.

  • You must have a university degree or at least 3 years of professional experience in your field.

  • Comprehensive private health insurance is required.

  • Your income must be at least €2,250 per month or €25,000 in the bank.
